Counselling

Face-to-face

This is when you make an appointment with a counsellor to see them in person at their practice. Face-to-face sessions are the most popular therapy formats.

We can have a session in my office.

Online Therapy

Skype, Phone or Email

It is a relatively new development in mental health, in which the therapist provides psychological support over the Internet and phone.

This would be because the client is not able to go to the therapist so they have decided to have online therapy.

It is confidential. Usually takes place once a week the same time and day.

Clinical Supervision

The supervisor is not the boss but rather a consultant.

Working under supervision means the counsellor (social worker, occupational therapist, etc) use supervision to review their work in relation with their client, their professional development and personal development

Supervision is a professional service but not a managerial role.

Play Therapy

“Lets not forget that our children communicate through play”

Play therapy is a form of counselling or psychotherapy that uses play and creative materials to communicate in therapy.

It is usually more common for children 3-12 years, but can also be an effective therapeutic approach for adolescents and adults.

Through play therapy the therapist encourages the child to explore life events with or without talking.
